Singer A. Halim passed away at Penawar Hospital, Pasir Gudang, Johor on Thursday (May 9) morning, due to a stroke.
He was 76 years old.
It's reported that he was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday evening after complaining of shortness of breath.
The news of his passing was shared in a statement by the Secretary of the Malaysian Artists' Association, Hafiz Nafiah. According to Hafiz, the funeral will be held at the singer's hometown in Masai, Johor.
The artiste, whose full name is Abdul Halim Mohammad Diah, was popular in Malaysia and Singapore in the 1960s and 70s.
He was a pop yeh yeh singer known for songs such as Dendang Terakhir, Kisah Dan Harapan, Bermusim and Cendrawasih.
The late singer also served as a vocalist for several groups including De’ Fictions, The Wanderers and The Wisma.
