Hong Kong singer Eason Chan recently sustained a back injury while performing at his concert in Wuhan, China.

According to Hong Kong media, Chan was seen clutching his back with tears in his eyes while performing his song, Life Marathon, on May 5.

The 49-year-old later explained to the audience that he had an accident while performing a fast-paced dance routine the day before.

“I felt a pull in my back. It happened because I got too excited. It has nothing to do with my age,” he said.

Chan added that he was initially worried he wouldn’t be able to perform as scheduled. Thankfully, he was still able to sing.

“My physical energy isn’t quite there. It’s quite troubling ... I actually cried from the pain earlier. I’ve never experienced anything like it,” he said.

After hearing his explanation, the crowd erupted in cheers and urged him not to continue dancing.

Hoping to make it up to concertgoers, Chan performed a medley of songs based on fans’ votes.

Although the singer wasn't able to dance, he was happy to entertain the crowd with additional songs.

“It’s strange how when you lose something, you gain something else.

“I couldn’t dance due to my back injury but because of that, I was able to sing more songs,” he said at the end of his show.
