KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's industrial production index (IPI) increased by 7% in June from a year ago, boosted by stronger manufacturing output, exceeding economists' forecast of a 5% rise.
The Statistics Department said on Monday the rise was contributed by the manufacturing segment, which increased by (9.1%; mining (1.4%) and electricity (6.5%). The IPI in May 2014 has been revised to 5.9% -on-year.
