Lecturers win awards
THREE lecturers beat their peers from 12 other universities to be among the first in the country to win the SAS Lecturer Excellence Awards. The awards were given out at the SAS forum held in Kuala Lumpur recently.
Assoc Prof Dr Rasimah Aripin from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Assoc Prof Dr Noor Azizi Ismail from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), and Assoc Prof Dr Muhammad Hisyam Lee from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) took the honours.
The SAS Lecturer Excellence Awards, awarded by a software vendor in Malaysia, recognises the role of lecturers in teaching and in promoting analytical and ICT skills among university students.
“As a market leader in business analysis software, SAS believes in building up a solid base of people who can think critically and analytically. We also aim to meet the growing demand for ICT knowledge workers in Malaysia,” said SAS Malaysia managing director Jimmy Cheah.
“Through this initiative, we hope to encourage more lecturers to nurture thinking skills as the demand for analytical human talent is very much sought after by corporations everywhere,” Cheah added.
The three winners were selected based on high scores in twelve criteria, including promoting the integration of the SAS academic programme into the university’s syllabus, actively involved in research done via SAS and participating in SAS forums and related events.
The SAS academic programme is currently incorporated into the curriculum of more than 15 universities and institutions of public learning in Malaysia.
