Boost for Islamic finance
UNIVERSITI Tun Abdul Razak (Unitar) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) to increase knowledge and expertise in Islamic finance.
‘“This collaboration is timely, in view of our goal to promote internationalisation through cooperation, collaborative networks and strategic alliances with focused partners,” said Unitar president and vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Md Zabid Abdul Rashid, after the signing ceremony held at INCEIF’s campus in Kuala Lumpur.
The MoU was signed by Prof Md Zabid and INCEIF’s president and chief executive officer, Agil Natt. Also present were Unitar’s deputy president (Academic and Research), Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Mahyuddin Mohamed Dahan and INCEIF’s chief operating officer, Razali Mahfar.
All smiles at the signing ceremony were (from left) Razali, Agil, Prof Md Zabid and Prof Mohamed Mahyudin. Prof Md Zabid highlighted the need for both institutions to establish a framework for joint cooperation in research, development, training and education in Islamic finance.
Under the MoU, more exchange programmes between the two institutions will be initiated.
There will also be joint publications, organisation of conferences, workshops and seminars, and the provision of more learning and research facilities.
