Musical partnership
THE International College of Music (ICOM) has signed a partnership agreement with the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, to jointly offer the Bachelor of Music (Hons) in Professional Music.
This is a three-year degree programme that focuses on music performance, arrangement and production.
More than 20 students are currently enrolled in the programme.
Upon graduation, students will have knowledge of and specialist skills in vocal/instrumental proficiency, writing for small and large bands, and recording, mixing and producing music for commercial purposes.
ICOM lecturers will deliver the modules, with the support of lecturers from Wolverhampton University’s School of Sports, Performing Arts and Leisure, who will visit ICOM to conduct staff development and give classes and workshops to students.
“This partnership paves the path for music students to secure a reputable UK degree, with all the quality assurance standards in learning and teaching, right here in Malaysia,” said ICOM president and chief executive officer Irene Savaree.
“This is a tremendous achievement for us all,” said John Pymm, dean of Wolverhampton’s School of Sports, Performing Arts and Leisure.
“It is also a tribute to the dedication of musicians in both institutions, whose creativity and tenacity have made this partnership possible.”
