The one and only ...
I AM autistic and I have problems communicating with people. People just don’t understand me.
When I first came to SMK Green Road, everyone seemed to ignore me. But not you, Madam Patricia Wong, you taught me MUET (Malaysian University English Test) and my whole world then just turned 180° .
You were patient and managed to “coax” words out of my mouth during one of our oral lessons and it happened!
Slowly, but surely, with some of the most interesting teaching methods you applied, I was drawn in.
You cracked plenty of jokes and laughed with us.
Then you made us read the newspapers every Monday and told motivating stories.
You even taught us to sing My Old Grandfather’s Clock, and had us say “tick-tock, tick-tock”.
You taught us English in such a novel and fun way that we looked forward to your lessons everyday.
Most of all, you treated me with patience till I had the confidence to carry out a “report writing” exercise and even pronounce tongue-twisters.
In my mind you are the “gorgeous one” because your patience, kindness and good intentions in your words and actions “melt” my heart and has changed my life.
You are still pretty — the kind of woman who could still make people stop and stare in admiration.
Therefore, with all the courage I have mustered, I write this lest I regret my entire life for not having written my tribute to you.
For Teachers Day this year, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your patience and understanding.
I will always remember you for the amusing anecdotes during our English lessons.
“You are just the prefect Teacher Idol for me!”
