When London comes a-calling
UNDER Limkokwing University of Creative Technology’s Global Generation programme, the second batch of Felda students recently departed for the United Kingdom.
The students will spend a semester at Limkokwing London where they will be exposed to a series of lessons and presentations by companies such as Coca-Cola and the British Broadcasting Corporation.
They will also embark on field trips in London including historical landmarks such as the Tower of London, Windsor Castle, Westminster Abbey and Tower Bridge.
Broadcasting student and talented songstress Siti Hasreena Rosli said she could not wait for the journey to London.
“It has always been a dream of mine to perform at the iconic Royal Albert Hall and now I am one step closer to my dream.
“I also get to visit the place where the world’s best musicians have performed; people such as Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, Adele and Noel Gallagher.”
The 21-year-old has already sung for the Sultan of Kedah and expressed her gratitude to the varsity for the once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity.
Last year, 100 outstanding Felda students were chosen to participate in the Global Generation semester in London.
The Global Generation programme is a nation building programme that helps mould scholars from rural areas into future global leaders.
The varsity was also recently included as one of the world’s most innovative higher education establishments in The Guide to Excellence 2013.
The annual guide is produced by the Cambridge University Students’ Union (CUSU) which explores and highlights how selected education providers from around the world promote and raise standards through encouraging academic diversity and depth across the globe.
The CUSU described the varsity as an innovative institution that gives its students the opportunity to produce apps, record their own music, set up new businesses and make videos for TV.
“I am so proud that our varsity has been highlighted by Cambridge students for the work we are doing here,” said architecture student David Marcus.
The varsity was also given the official title of Malaysia’s University of Innovation by the Higher Education Ministry.
