Of hearts and minds
With the dissolution of
Parliament yesterday,
Malaysians are set to go to the
polls once again. As we head
towards our 12th general
election, what do people around
the country have to say about the
voting process and where their
votes will go?
Elections 101
Malaysia conducts a general election once every four or five years, and the people will again be voting in a new government in a few weeks. Let's take a look at what the ballot box is all about.
Spot the symbols
Symbols are of utmost importance in any general election as the ballot paper will carry the symbol of each candidate.
Learn the lingo
With elections just round the corner, you are bound to hear lots of interesting comments. If you find the jargon a little hard to understand, the glossary provided should come in useful.
Figures that count
In any general election, one of the first things people want to know is how many seats have been won by which party.
Keeper of the polls
The Election Commission (EC) was formed on Sept 4, 1957, under Article 114 of the Federal Constitution, which empowers it to conduct elections for the Dewan Rakyat and state legislative bodies.
