Deal struck on exco line-up in Perak

IPOH: The DAP-PKR-PAS coalition in Perak has come to an agreement over the formula for the make-up of the 10 state executive councillor (exco) posts.

According to reliable sources, leaders of the three parties signed an agreement for a six-three-one formula after their meeting on Thursday night.

The DAP will be taking the lion’s share of the exco posts, followed by three for PKR and one for PAS.

In the just concluded polls, the DAP won 18 state seats, PKR seven while PAS took six.

The 10 exco posts include the two deputy Mentri Besar postions which will go to the DAP and PKR.

The source said the three party chiefs had signed a letter agreeing to the formula of the exco posts.

“All 31 assemblymen have also signed an agreement consenting to the formation of the new coalition government and the appointment of Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as Mentri Besar,” added the source.

Outside Istana Kinta here Friday, Perak DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham and his secretary Nga Kor Ming told reporters that they had to re-submit a new set of signatures of the 31 assemblymen to the palace.

"The palace wanted the pledges of the assemblymen on individual sheets of paper," said Ngeh, who is Sitiawan assemblyman and Beruas MP.

He added that the initial set of pledges had been rejected because they were not prepared on individual sheets of paper.

Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohamad Nor, private secretary to Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah, received the individual pledges at 5.15pm, Ngeh said.

"We are still waiting for a date for the swearing-in of the new Mentri Besar," he added.
