MBJB mayor warns parties

JOHOR BARU: Political parties in the recent general elections will forfeit some of their deposits should they fail to bring down posters, flags and banners.

Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) mayor Datuk Mohd Naim Nasir said the parties were given two weeks from polling day to bring down the items.

“The campaign items especially the flags placed at the road side can endanger people.

“We are monitoring the situation to ensure that all parties abide by the rule,” he said, adding that some of the election posters might have also covered road signs.

Mohd Naim said the council would take down the items should the parties fail to do so and the clean-up cost would be deducted from their deposits.

Take ’em down!: The general election took place last week but many flags, posters and bunting have yet to be removed.
On another matter, Mohd Naim said the council had set up a one-stop centre for licence applications and payments at its main office in the city.

“We are also improving our delivery system so that all complaints can be dealt with swiftly,” he added.

He urged anyone with any grievances or feedback to SMS to 019-778 8212.
