Sarawak DAP wants early talks on seats

KUCHING: The Sarawak state elections are due only in 2011 but the state DAP wants an early discussion with the PKR national leadership on seat allocation for the next polls.

State DAP chairman Richard Wong Ho Leng said he hoped to meet up with PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur early this week.

Wong, who is also Bukit Assek assemblyman, said he would not hold any discussions on the Opposition’s preparations for the next state election with Sarawak PKR, which is led by Dominic Ng Kim Ho, the Padungan assemblyman.

“We will liaise directly with PKR advisor,” he told reporters after chairing the DAP state committee meeting to analyse the party’s poor performance in Sarawak.

Wong and Ng have discredited each other over the Sarawak DAP-PKR failure to reach an agreement on seat allocation.

The DAP won only one of the seven seats it contested, retaining Bandar Kuching.
