IPOH: The Perak Youth Council wants the Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah to recognise Barisan Nasional as the legitimate state government.
Council chairman Hang Tuah Din said the current coalition of DAP-PKR-PAS was weak and fragile.
The call came just a day before state PAS secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin was to be sworn in as the new Mentri Besar.
We respect the decision of the voters but we are alarmed that even before forming the state government, their pact does not look strong, Hang Tuah said yesterday.
The Barisan, he noted, had contested as one party and so it had a more legitimate claim.
If need be, we will appeal to the Sultan to move for fresh elections in Perak, said Hang Tuah, who is also Malaysian Youth Council executive councillor.
Hang Tuah, who is Perak Umno Youth secretary, said the council had sent the proposal, which was backed by 33 youth groups of all races and religions, to Istana Kinta by 8pm yesterday.
