Justice of the Peace is not a title

MAY I draw your attention to some recent congratulatory messages advertised in The Star which sounded something like this:
“... so and so ... On Being Conferred the title JUSTICE OF PEACE by ...”
It should be “JUSTICE OF THE PEACE”, and since J.P. is not a title like P.J.K., A.M.N., Datuk and so on, the correct version of the above message should read:
“ ... so and so ... On Being Appointed JUSTICE OF THE PEACE by...”
