Exciting times ahead
The Putra Cup next year should be a close call as Thailand attempt to defend their title with Malaysia and the Philippines, the hosts, bid to regain the honours themselves.
Whoever does win the 53rd Putra Cup, the 7th Lion City Cup, the 5th Santi Cup and the inaugural Kartini Cup, should be worthy champions as the competition has really grown strong.
Besides the rivalry, though, the aim of “The Tunku”, as he was affectionately known, was to foster friendship among the Southeast Asian countries, will not be forgotten.
Meanwhile, at the recent Asean Golf Federation (AGF) annual general meeting held on at Emeralda Golf Club, Jakarta, the Kartini Cup was donated by Indonesia, and will be contested for the first time in 2013.
