Divine stones
Good Vibrations by JAGUAR SPEAKS
I HAD intended this week to return to our series on dZi. However, last Saturday, I was in Chinatown (Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur), shopping for some dZi stones. (I do not usually recommend this unless you really know your crystals, but if you do, it is a wonderful experience, with choices from everywhere.)
As I was looking for some more dZi stones to complete my collection, I heard my name being called from a trader’s stall. Stephen and Zul, whom I last met during my time as advisor to the Malaysian Society for Complementary Therapies, were there as well. We talked a lot about how to use different crystals in healing and then Stephen asked me if I knew about a particular stone from India, which he showed me.
Well I did not, but the energy emanating from it was awesome.
Now I know this stone as the Narmada/Shiva Lingam stone, which I am sharing with you this week.
This is the sacred stone referred to in the movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
The Shiva Lingam is one of the most sacred icons of the ancient as well as the modern world. Shiva Lingams come from the Narmada River in India, which is one of the seven sacred holy places of pilgrimage in India, and the collection of these stones is passed down from generation to generation.
The stones are made of crypto crystalline quartz, and were formed from a meteorite that fell to Earth several million years ago. They contain one of the highest divine vibrations of all stones on Earth. The stone represents the blending of male and female energy, with the shape of the stone representing the male (knowledge), and the markings representing the female (wisdom).
The stone works with the breath and the fluids of the body, creating a harmony in the body’s flow.
The Shiva of Narmadeshawara Lingam stones are sacred in many beliefs. They are gathered one sacred day a year from an area near the source of the Narmada River, about 480km north of Bombay. Of the stones gathered, the most beautiful are polished into a traditional egg/oval shape by the action of the river, then enhanced by hand polishing with a waxy-butter which gives them their unique gleam and texture.
The Narmada River is considered sacred. According to Vedic text, these stones illustrate harmony through duality. In these stones are the energy of divine acceptance of what is, as is. The stones represent power, creation and the physical plane or grounding of those who accompany the sacred stones.
No two stones are alike and supplies are very limited as the area they come from is now permanently underwater.
The lingam is symbolic of the divine creative manifestation. It also represents the harmony and balance of the soul that is maintained within the hearts of all of us.
The quartz composition, along with the basalt and the agate, make such stones powerful energy generators. They emanate a vibration that will purify your office or home. The stone represents both the male energy of knowledge and the female energy of wisdom.
The lingham is used in meditation and crystal healing. When held in your hands, the energy feels kind of like water in a balloon moving back and forth.
In Tantra, the shape embodies masculine energy, dynamic expression and knowledge. The markings, named Yoni (sacred Sanskrit word for vulva), depict feminine energy, wisdom and intuition. Together, the female energy arouses the masculine urge to create. As such, the Tantric Lingam unifies the dualistic (male female) world into harmonious balance.
The Shiva Lingham Stone is a physical body stone. It nurtures the second chakra. It is a great stone for those who did not receive proper nurturing in childhood.
Use Chrysoprase crystals with the Shiva Lingham stone to add courage to see the early experience and how it affects your life. Place the Chrysoprase between the first and second chakras in a healing session.
According to Vedic knowledge, the Lingam represents the inner being, the energy shape of the soul, the essence of a human being. Here is a balance of male/female, yin/yang, dark/light, the positive/negative energies unified – the wholeness of the soul, which is neither male nor female.
It is also said that everyone has their own Lingam. It is as if the signature of one’s soul has been alchemically embedded in the stone down the millennia of its making in the embrace of Mother Earth, and finally in the hands of an esoteric craftsperson.
The Lingam draws out the soul’s qualities. As a result, it is a potent force for healing and meditation.
Spiritual and healing experiences are wide and varied through the Lingams. Some experiences include tingling and heat, an energy rush up and down the body, sudden clarity of mind in the face of confusion and the release of energy where there was once a blockage, and very often, activation of the heart chakra with the accompanying experiences of self-acceptance, self-worth, happiness, contentment, unconditional love, compassion.
At a time when our world and our nation desperately need a balance of male and female, the appearance of these stones now is yet another example of the right time and right place.
Balance does more to improve our lives than any other factor, so get such a stone. They are available in many sizes – mine weighs 7kg, and I was fortunate to get some smaller ones, but you can get hand held comforters, wear it as a pendant, a ring and so on.
