Rihanna and Chris Brown’s tumultuous relationship has dominated headlines for years, especially after the 25-year-old singer decided to take Brown back despite being badly beaten by him in a 2009 attack.

Proving that love triumphs over everything, including split lips and a bloody nose, the couple were seen cosying up to one another at the Grammy Awards held just a few weeks ago.

Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton

Love hurts for this bizarre one-time couple. They met on the set of Pushing Tin in 1999 and got hitched in Las Vegas just a year later. Their frequent public declarations and gestures of romantic love, including wearing one another’s blood in vials around the neck, quickly became a favourite topic of the entertainment media. Don’t get us started on how the blood got in the vials.

And yes, they divorced three years later.

Kim Kardashian

The 32-year-old American socialite and television personality, best known for her reality television series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, married basketball player Kris Humphries in August 2011 in a widely publicised ceremony.

That October, Kardashian filed for divorce following just 72 days of marriage. The move garnered significant backlash from the media, who called it a publicity stunt.

The socialite has since bounced back onto the dating-and-mating scene, and is currently having a child with her boyfriend, hip hop artiste Kanye West, while still undergoing her divorce with Humphries.

Taylor Swift

The 23-year-old singer-songwriter may be America’s favourite country darling, but Swift is as famous for being a serial monogamist as she is for her penchant for making unwanted shoutouts to her ex-boyfriends in her songs.

She recently made headlines when she apparently dissed ex-boyfriend, Harry Styles of the band One Direction, during her Grammy performance. Perhaps addicted to the adrenaline rush of falling in love, Swift’s list of famous ex-boyfriends she has musically ranted about include singers John Mayer and Joe Jonas, and actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
