Book review

Most of us know Simone Beck for co-writing the world-famous cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, with Julia Child. While Child went on to become a chef on television, Beck chose to continue teaching cooking from her home – hence her anonymity compared to Childs.

But make no mistake, Beck was as accomplished a cook as Childs was. And, as is evidenced by her cookbook Food & Friends: Recipes And Memories From Simca’s Cuisine which was first published in 1991, she had just as big a personality.
