Ghouls, goblins and Galaxie

By EVELYN TEO

WITH Halloween just around the corner and horror movies being all the rage, it is only fitting that Galaxie magazine celebrates the most compelling scary show on TV at the moment – Supernatural.

Now entering their fifth season in the United States, Supernatural, which stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, is appointment viewing for many and it’s because there are only a handful of shows that deal with chilling stories in a thoughtful yet humorous manner.

“What separated us from the pack was that we were more of a horror show,” Ackles explains in an inter-view.

“We were a scary movie every week. We weren’t something that kind of left you wondering what could be out there. We showed you what was out there and we dealt with it. I think that that has always been the defining characteristic of our show.”

“I think it’s both a fun escape from reality and I think it’s also a fun sort of parallel to reality,” Padalecki offers as an answer in a separate session. “Our writers try to mirror today’s problems in the sort of mythical, fantastic, supernatural stage. It’s sort of fun and it strikes a chord. We’re able to talk about and explore some of the problems with the world in a sort of fun way, which is kind of bizarre.”

The Supernatural boys also divulge on how long they think a show like theirs can go on, how they have managed to avoid vicious gossip and the paparazzi among other things in the new issue of Galaxie which hits newsstands tomorrow.

Also in the 17-31 October issue, a recap of what went down celebrity-wise at the Singapore F1, Taylor Swift talks about taking sweet revenge on bullies by becoming successful, Hoobastank reveal why they focus on anger and express regret for their latest album and the Black Eyed Peas disclose what they have been working on individually lately.

Readers stand a chance of winning awesome prizes like the ultra-cool Twilight tinbox, Timex watches, Jennifer’s Body comic books and America’s Next Top Model novels too in the latest issue.

For movie buffs, Galaxie is giving away 150 tickets to watch Astro Boy.

Galaxie, which is owned by Star Publications (M) Bhd, also has a presence online at galaxieblog.com.my, which is packed with celebrity news and views. In the next few days, Galaxie blog will have One Tree Hill goodies up for grabs so keep checking back often for first dibs on the items.
