FLAMENCO INTRODUCTORY COURSE BY KAYLA

Nov 29, Dec 6, 13 & 20: This workshop will introduce the novice to the basics of flamenco dance and rhythms. Areas covered include posture, arm and hand movements, footwork technique and strengthening exercises. Time: 2pm-3.30pm, course Fee: RM150 and registration fee: RM50. For ages 18 and above.

DANCING THROUGH THE AGES FOR CANCER AWARENESS

Dec 6: Put on your dancing shoes and head to La Bodega to have a good time for a good cause.

The activities lined up for the day include live performances by local and international participants from all walks of life and age groups, and health booths where you can check your BMI and blood pressure, and talk to dietitians, nurses and doctors from NCI Hospital. Time: 1pm to 6pm.

RED CARNIVAL — WORLD AIDS DAY 2009

Today & tomorrow: A carnival will be held in conjunction with World Aids Day on Dec 1.

Over the two days, 80 performers such as Dina, Deborah Henry, Azah and Will Quah will entertain the crowds while volunteers will distribute HIV information, red ribbons and other merchandise to the general public.

The event is in partnership with WHO, the International Planning Parenthood Federation and the Embassy of Finland.

Time: 11am-7pm on Nov 28 and till 8pm on Nov 29.

2ND ANNUAL DINNER

Dec 5: Calling all members of the Ceylonese community. The congress is celebrating its second anniversary with a dinner at Media Hotel, Tropicana Merchant Square in PJU 3, Petaling Jaya.

The evening begins with a word game at 7.15 pm and 12 winners will receive a publisher’s gift worth RM48. Price: RM50 per head.

CHRISTMAS AT LITTLE PENANG

The programme for the day includes two dramas presented by the International School of Penang (Uplands) at 12:30pm, meeting Santa Claus at 1.30pm and Christmas carols by the IWA at 2pm.

This is the last market before Christmas. Time: 10am-5pm.

A SOLO EXHIBITION BY CHANG YOONG CHIA

Till Dec 6: Valentine Willie Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur and Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur is presenting the new and old works of Chang Yoong Chia in his most awaited solo exhibition since Rimbun Dahan. The 2nd Seven Years: Quilt of the Dead, Flora & Fauna IV, Narratives will feature 40 of his signature paintings on canvases, seashells, eggshells, spoons and plates including Quilt of the Dead, a work-in-progress since 2003.
