Words on wine

This 456-page book is best read with Appreciation of Vines & Wines, also by the same author (ISBN: 978-9673035311). This book’s 200 pages are a wealth of essential information about wine making, wine producing regions, wine tasting, the health effects of wines and wine matching tips.
Detailed, yet written with clarity, these two books will no doubt be a welcome presence on any wine lover’s shelf. Proceeds from the sales of both books will go to the National Cancer Society of Malaysia.
Author Lau says he chose to benefit the society because “cancer is the third largest killer in the world and there is a lot of room for research on this subject”.
He explains that the society is financed entirely by public donations and has managed to expand its services over the years to offer several aspects of cancer management, from detection and treatment to counselling. It has five centres in the Kuala Lumpur area serving cancer patients. It also runs a counselling centre in Kuching, and a mammography centre and a hospice in Penang.
