Little sparklers
By PATSY KAM
Jewellery makes a sound investment.
ECONOMISTS will tell you that this is not a good time to splurge on trendy clothes and throwaway fashion shoes. They’re probably right, as the fad will last for a couple of months before you grow tired of the design.
So, if you’ve saved up to treat yourself after the many depressing financial reports during the first half of this year, spend wisely. Make sure it’s something that you’ll be using for a long time.
Jewellery is always a good investment, as it never quite goes out of style and you can pass it on to the next generation as heirlooms. Something local or foreign, whatever tickles your fancy, a good piece of jewellery goes a long way to help you dress up any old outfit from your wardrobe.
Sunny days: The Clouds range – comprising earrings, necklace, pendant and ring – from Luca Carati Apricot delight
Soo Kee Jewellery has introduced a new addition to its ArcoIris family – the sensual and sizzling ArcoAprica. Inspired by the colour of the apricot, one of the first indications of summer, ArcoAprica introduces the use of rose gold with its signature six-in-one diamond setting in this season’s collection.
What distinguishes this unique collection is the craftsmanship employed that enables the solitaire in the middle of the ring of diamonds to be upheld without the aid of any claw. Instead, thanks to an innovative technique, six solitaires are skilfully positioned to secure the centre solitaire, giving it the look of a single diamond from afar.
The choice of using seven diamonds has references to the seven colours of the rainbow, which speaks of renewed hope when it makes its rare appearance. These same seven colours are what comprise pure light.
Available at Soo Kee Jewellery at Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur and Brilliant Rose Diamond Galleria at Bangsar Village II, Kuala Lumpur as well as AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre, Selangor.
Dazzling: ArcoAprica pendant from Soo Kee Jewellery. Inspired by nature
Luca Carati is one of Italy’s oldest and most prestigious luxury jewellers. Its collections for 2009 has become more structured, larger and even more prestigious both for central stone rings with white and fancy natural colour diamonds as well as for necklaces and bracelets.
This time round, the philosophical identity of the Maison Luca Carati is inspired by Nature. Elements such as leaves, flowers, blades of grass, branches and clouds are played out in the designs.
One of the ranges offered within the collections is the Bombay Leaves 2009 Collection, a line inspired by Paisley décor. Beautiful pieces realised in white and rose gold, with white and champagne diamonds, to make a perfect chromatic match. Pendants, earrings and rings complete the collection. Clouds portray diamond clouds played out in lovely colours and exotic lights while Bazaar features exotic styles reminiscent of the profile of Russian orthodox buildings and details of Persian and Indian architecture. Others collections include Mantra, Aria, Décor, Monsoon and Leaves 2009 Collection.
Available at all Poh Kong Jeweller.
