Same religion, not race

I REFER to the article entitled A child to call your own (Family, Oct 12) by Elaine Dong.
Thank you so much for helping Orphancare to raise awareness about orphans and abandoned babies so that more Malaysians will realise that “Every Child Needs A Family”.
I wish to point out one sentence which reads: “In Malaysia, babies must be matched to parents of the same race – a Malay baby can only be adopted by Malay parents and so on.” The word “race” should be replaced by “religion”.
To reiterate, babies must be matched to parents of the same religion.
