Stylish: Brazilian top model Gisele Bündch en in a shocking red sweater. Going casual doesn’t mean sloppy. The Esprit Fall Collection is all about infusing style into practical and comfortable outfits.
AS GISELE Bündchen settles into motherhood, the Brazilian supermodel – now pregnant with her second child – looks effortlessly stylish and relaxed in the campaign shots for Esprit’s Fall 2012 collection.
Although not everyone has a figure like the former Victoria’s Secret model, the lifestyle brand points women to Bündchen’s attitude in dressing tastefully for every occasion, even if it’s just catching up with friends in a cafe or bringing the baby out for a stroll.
Suede platform pump with wooden heel. Styled by French stylist and fashion editor Camille Bidault-Waddington and shot by British fashion photographer David Sims, the collection features tailored coats, button shirts, trousers, knits and other versatile pieces that are great for mixing and matching. This season, Esprit’s women collection takes inspiration from its home city San Francisco, where unconventional styles merge with organic cottons and recycled fabrics.
Apart from casual trousers and denims in various cuts, cargos, knit cardigans and sweaters, this line features contemporary wardrobe staples such as double-breasted jackets that smarten up an outfit instantly.
The options are aplenty as most of the pieces are versatile – chinos paired with a billowy silk blouse worn beneath a blazer, cotton jodphurs with an oversized check shirt, or skinny denims with a chunky cable knit sweater and wool pea coat.
Overall, there is more of an indie feel to the collection this season, which is also seen in the sports clothing that is as functional as it is comfortable.
Roomy trousers, long blouses, tanks and plush hoodies work for long days, road trips and for running errands in the city. This range also includes snow and ski clothing.
For its bodywear and nightwear collection, Esprit highlights floral print, lace and glossy satin.
The bodywear pieces are made from high-quality microfibres featuring Indian-inspired folklore patterns, and floral prints adorned with delicate lace, ruffles, fastenings and striking mesh inserts.
Jersey fabrics, cuddly flannel and fleece make comfortable nightwear while the loungewear range comprises warm fleece dresses, subtle polka dot bras and matching hipsters with feminine details, as well as shorts and jackets made from plush, cosy fabrics.
Similar to the women’s collection, the men’s range includes Bohemian influences and casual chic pieces such as chambray and check shirts, pullover cardigans and cargo trousers. Yuppies would find suitable work attire such as coats, suits and shirts, as well as slim-fitting trousers that go with slightly overcut tops.
The men’s collection is dominated by browns, blues and blacks, accented with crisp shades of orange, yellow, green and silver-grey.
Esprit’s colourful children’s wear comprise duffle coats, parkas and down jackets, as well as chunky knits and ruffled shirts. This line also carries denims in different washes as well as other organic materials. It features a rich palette of blue, red, yellow, maize and neon orange that complement the energetic buzz of young children.
A knee-length sleeveless dress. With pretty artwork such as polka dots, prints, border motifs, eyelet embroidery, lace and ruffles, the collection is suitable for nine-month-old tots to 14-year-old teens.
> Prices start from RM169.90. Available at all Esprit outlets nationwide. The brand has a revamped store in Gurney Plaza (Penang) and a new outlet in JB City Square (Johor Baru).
