NOV 9-11: See your favourite characters from three of Cartoon Network’s hit shows – Ben 10, Ben 10 Alien Force and Ben 10 Ultimate Alien – come to life at Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 Live: Time Machine. Be entertained by cool stunts and acrobatics, cutting edge digital effects and funny antics at the show. Look out for Ben Tennyson, his cousin Gwen and Grandpa Max, and don’t miss Four Arms, Diamondhead, Swampfire, Big Chill and Ultimate Swampfire who will unleash their cool powers live on stage. TILL NOV 7: Emergence is a group exhibition featuring works by six young Malaysian artists, Azimuddin Abd Manaf, Hafiz Hajeedar, Harold “Egn” Eswar, Lyia Meta, Shyevin S’ng and Skinner. Each artist has a unique style, reflecting the diversity that makes contemporary art exciting. For a few of these artists, this marks the first time they are participating in a formal exhibition. NOV 10: To mark the third Worldwide NET (Neuroendocrine tumours) Cancers Awareness Day on Nov 10, the NET Cancer Awareness Interest Group is organising a local level NET Cancer Awareness Day. Come and learn more about NET cancer, found most commonly in the lung or gastrointestinal system. Find out how they can also originate in other parts of the body such as the pancreas, ovary and testes. Early detection can save lives. The awareness drive will start with a flash mob at about 4.30pm (ends 7pm).

NOV 3 AND 4: Enjoy romantic classical performances by The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), who will present glorious Russian masterpieces in two showcases entitled The Russian Soul. The highlight of the repertoire is Rachmaninov’s Symphony No.2 in E minor, one of his most iconic works, as well as Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1, featuring a wide range of melodic archetypes. The MPO will also present the picturesque A Night On Bald Mountain, composed by Mussorgsky in 1867. The performance will showcase the excellent musicianship of pianist Elisaveta Blumina. All concerts will be led by Russian conductor Thomas Sanderling. Ticket prices: RM50, RM70, RM100 and RM130. Time: 8.30pm, Nov 3 and 3pm, Nov 4.

NOV 1 AND 8: Sway along to talented entertainer Winnie Ho today at Hakka Republic’s “Shanghai Jazz” event, a fusion of Eastern classics and Western Jazz elements. Ho formed a trio called 2VIG with Regine Tai and guitarist Roger Wang, and released the first album 2 Voices 1 Guitar (2V1G) in 2008. A second album was released last year. On Nov 8, Bossa Princess Z Yan takes to the stage with great classics, ranging from Bai Guang of the 50s and Teresa Teng from the 70s and 80s, to modern pop hits from Tiger Huang and Cheer Chen. Performed with Western Bossa Nova elements, the music has a sensuous rhythm for a relaxing evening. Cover charge: RM38++ with one complimentary drink. Show starts at 9.30pm.

TILL NOV 4: From acclaimed New York playwright Rich Orloff, Romantic Fools is a comedic revue featuring 12 two-character sketches on love, dating and romance. Directed by Reza Zainal Abidin, it is led by KL’s Queen of Comedy Joanne Kam and actor Tony Eusoff, with cameo appearances by Chelsia Ng, Iedil Putra, Megat Sharizal and Sarah Shahrum. From a caveman with a heart of gold to a couple of vegans with one greasy secret, the show details the ups, downs and all the in-betweens of love and relationships. Tickets: RM58 and RM68. NOV 10: Prepare to move your legs and body as you try out the basics of tap dance in one collective groove. Featuring new tap choreography by founder and instructor of Rhythm Tappers @ Malaysia, Toh Kong Eu, the session will include performances by guest tappers from Singapore. There is also choreography by international tap masters such as Dianne Walker, Grant Swift and Claudia Rahardjanoto. Seating will be right on the floor, so wear comfortable clothes. NOV 30-DEC 2: The Summit & SJ Advanced Toastmasters Club will organise its annual Youth Leadership Programme for students aged between 12 and 17. This learn-by-doing programme aims to transform students into speakers and leaders. The programme runs for three days, starting Friday and ending with a contest on Sunday.
