First in Asia
By S.S. YOGA
Night view of ibis Hong Kong Central and Sheung Wan. Hong Kong gets a new flagship ibis hotel that has also been re-branded.
THE newly opened ibis Hong Kong Central and Sheung Wan was designed and built from the ground up to be an ibis Group flagship. The 550-room property is also one of the first in Asia to showcase the brand’s new identity, which is currently being launched worldwide. This pushes the group’s total number of rooms in Asia-Pacific to above 100,000.
The hotel offers a full eight hours of breakfast service beginning as early as 4.00am, with drinks and snacks round-the-clock at the 24-hour bar. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access is available throughout the hotel.
ibis Hong Kong Central and Sheung Wan features three room types: Studio, City View and Harbour View, with the latter offering magnificent views of the famous Hong Kong harbour.
The hotel is just a short walk from Sheung Wan MTR station and the Macau Ferry Terminal. Sheung Wan is an area filled with exotic dried seafood stalls and hip coffeeshops. Historic sites include Man Mo Temple and Possession Point where the British fleets first landed in Hong Kong.
Also of interest are the neighbourhood’s elegant cafes and bars at the nearby Hollywood Road. The fancy restaurants and lively nightlife of Central’s Soho district are just a short walk away.
