Learning experience
I ENJOY reading Martin Vengadesan’s Music, Myths And Legends column as it is always a learning experience for me.
His passion for music and history comes through in his articles, and his competence in the English language allows him to combine both very well.
I wonder though, if it’s mostly “oldies” like me and my husband who are able to appreciate what Martin writes about?
Do many of the younger generation know anything about the bands, songs, political events, books and poems that he highlights, to appreciate his articles?
I have just e-mailed his latest article, The tolling bell (July 29) to my children. They had been exposed to rock/metal of the 1970s and 80s by my husband, so I’m sure they can relate to it. Thank you for writing, Martin.
By the way, both my children are musicians and my daughter also writes about music for an online magazine.
