SEPT 22 & 23: The annual Komas Freedom Film Fest (FFF) turns 10 this year, and to celebrate, FFF is organising the Freedom Arts Fest, a two-day, multi-arts human rights festival showcasing more than 20 local and international films, as well as a range of arts and activism workshops and exhibitions. Catch the premiere of this year’s winning documentaries, Rights Of The Dead (Tricia Yeoh), M-C-M’: Utopia Milik Siapa? SEPT 22: An event for children and youths with learning issues, with stage performances by Special Children, games, sale of art, craft and food, and free talks and counselling sessions. At sunset, all participants walk in silence with a light to symbolise the lives and achievements of those with learning issues. SEPT 20-23, 27-29: The Young Contempo Auction (TYCA) is a new initiative by Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers to showcase the works of young and contemporary Malaysian artists. This inaugural auction will feature 35 works, with the full proceeds to be channelled towards programmes that aid fledgling artists. The art is available for viewing at Black Box, Publika on Sept 20-23, and at MECC on Sept 27-29. The auction will be held on Sept 29, 4pm, at MECC.
