SEPT 22-23: The longest-running rugby sevens tournament in Asia kicks off this weekend with at least 50 teams expected to participate. The Super League for professional and semi-professional players also makes a comeback this year. Admission: Free. Time: 8am-6pm.
Melaka Art & Performance Festival

SEPT 21-23: The largest and only site-specific art and performance festival on a UNESCO Heritage site returns to Malacca for the fourth time. It will feature art installations and performances by more than 50 renowned local and international artists. Admission: Free.

SEPT 22 & 23: The annual Komas Freedom Film Fest (FFF) turns 10 this year, and to celebrate, FFF is organising the Freedom Arts Fest, a two-day, multi-arts human rights festival showcasing more than 20 local and international films, as well as a range of arts and activism workshops and exhibitions. Catch the premiere of this year’s winning documentaries, Rights Of The Dead (Tricia Yeoh), M-C-M’: Utopia Milik Siapa? Sept 30: A jumble sale to raise funds for the SPCA will be held on its grounds, 10am-1pm. Prices range from RM5 to RM150 or more.

SEPT 20-23, 27-29: The Young Contempo Auction (TYCA) is a new initiative by Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers to showcase the works of young and contemporary Malaysian artists. This inaugural auction will feature 35 works, with the full proceeds to be channelled towards programmes that aid fledgling artists. The art is available for viewing at Black Box, Publika on Sept 20-23, and at MECC on Sept 27-29. The auction will be held on Sept 29, 4pm, at MECC.
