Dazzling detour
Interior of Mulberry flagship store in Singapore. BRITISH luxury brand Mulberry recently celebrated the opening of its first Asian flagship store in Singapore.
There was a cocktail event, followed by a private dinner, where guests were treated to a live performance by Lana Del Rey. Incidentally, the American singer-songwriter is the inspiration behind the brand’s Del Rey bag.
The boutique in Mandarin Gallery was officially opened by Mulberry CEO Bruno Guillon, creative director Emma Hill and Rey.
A little piece of Britain came to Singapore as the “Queen’s guards” stood in sentry boxes on both sides of the store entrance while bagpipes were played.
After guests mingled at a cocktail held inside the store, guests were transported in cars provided by Jaguar to a dinner at Catalunya restaurant.
Here, they enjoyed aperitifs on the deck overlooking the Marina Bay before sitting down to a three-course dinner.
Rey then gave an exclusive performance, clad in a sequined ombre dress from the Spring/Summer 2013 Collection.
She also carried the Del Rey bag in ink blue croc print from the Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection.
“We’re very excited to have our first flagship for Asia in Singapore; it’s a great space to house the full collection, including ready-to-wear. The Mandarin Gallery is a vibrant place and a wonderful location. We wanted to do something big and bold to launch the store and the event with Lana Del Rey was amazing; the Singaporean fans loved her and she looked beautiful,” enthused Hill.
