Embracing nature’s colours
By PATSY KAM
Vibrant hues and floral motifs set the mood for the festive season.
THIS Chinese New Year ushers in the Year Of The Water Snake. Soothsayers predict that this will be a year of conservation, rebuilding and changes.
As we welcome the new lunar calendar, Parkson embraces the advent of spring with blooms of Mother Nature in all its exuberant colours and delicate beauty.
The vibrant hues seen outdoors lend inspiration to its fashion collection this time around.
While floral motifs and bright colours set the mood in motion for the women, a more subdued palette await the men, making it a perfect complement to the women’s fashion.
For her, Monica Quen retains the element of tradition in the ever glamorous cheongsam, while Ang Eng and Melinda Looi play up the chinoiserie detailing for their collections, resulting in a refreshing contemporary twist to the apparels.
Joy & Peace, Staccato and Amori offer bright chic footwear for the gals while Majorica, Toscow and Park Avenue Accessories have a great variety of accessories to complete each outfit.
Last but not least, Love Moschino and John Candice have bags and clutches which make perfect arm candies to bring along to any outing or dinner.
For him, it’s time to “dress down” as he dresses up in casual elegance. Monica Quen sticks to the same vein of tradition, while Springfield and Camel Active offer smart casual pieces for the fuss-free man.
For those who prefer a dash of sophistication and want to up the game, opt for Savile Row or Kent styles.
Guys can look to Valentino Rudy, Sebago or Jeep footwear to put the right foot forward this festive season. Add on the charm and you are well on your way to your mother-in-law’s good books for the rest of the year!
For the fashion shoot, Parkson chose ornate carvings, chinoiserie panels and rustic gold hues as the backdrop, which set the mood of heady nostalgia and oriental charm, reminiscent of the romantic ambience of In the Mood for Love by Wong Kar Wai.
The various Parkson stores are decorated in a similar fashion, with custom-made floral lanterns, Chinese panels and retro Chinese calendars, led by the flagship store in Parkson Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
After 25 years of department store retailing in Malaysia and with its expansion to major countries all across Asia, Parkson has now expanded its network of stores with an online service. If you’re tight on time, let your hand do the walking as you browse the store via Parkson’s online shopping at parkson.com.my.
Beauty, Men, Women, and Sports & Leisure categories offer shoppers with more than 2,500 types of products to choose from. Some of the notable brands to look out for include Swedish cult brand Dr Denim, inspiring and upcoming shoe designer Christy Ng Shoes, Ted Baker Accessories, Lego toys and beauty brand SK-II.
