For better eyes: Clinique’s new Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector is suitable for all skin tones. Here’s a solution specifically for those tired-looking panda eyes.
THEY make us look haggard and add years to our actual age.
Dark eye circles, also referred to as panda eyes, are a common problem among both men and women, and not easy to get rid of.
Various factors cause this skin concern such as stress, fatigue, dehydration, poor circulation, inflammation and hereditary reasons.
“The thinner skin around the eye area can also make dark circles appear more prominent. Through recent research, Clinique scientists also found that a large component of the colour of dark circles is melanin accumulation,” said Dr Tom Mammone, Clinique’s executive director of skin physiology and pharmacology in a press release.
Uneven skin tone can also make someone appear older than they actually are. Besides being an aesthetic issue, dark circles may also affect one’s emotions.
A Clinique study conducted with over 600 women across various ethnicities to gain insight into how dark circles affected them and how they treated the problem, revealed that dark circles are a top skincare concern that can lead to self-consciousness and overall lack of confidence.
In general, women are sceptical when it comes to using eye creams for treating dark circles. Hence, a common practice and solution is to reach out for that concealer and hide the flaw.
Clinique aims to change all that with its latest Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector.
The product is the fourth addition to the Even Better range, which was first launched in January 2011 with the Clinical Dark Spot Corrector serum.
Touted to treat dark circles instantly and over time, the new formula is said to be clinically proven to visibly reduce dark circles by 30% in 12 weeks.
The Dark Circle Corrector features a new Translucent Optics Technology, a patent-pending blend of micronised pigments and optics that helps capture light to enhance skin’s natural tone and brighten the eye area.
The specially processed and treated micro-particles utilise light reflectors and the natural hues of skin to lessen the appearance of discoloration and dark under-eye circles on a broad range of skin tones instantly.
In the long run, vitamin C and mulberry root ingredients work together to help minimise the appearance of under-eye darkness.
Recent studies have also shown that mulberry root extract contains oxyresveratrol, a naturally-occurring compound, that has been shown to slow down melanin accumulation.
The Dark Circle Corrector also contains caffeine and green tea extract believed to help calm irritation from environmental aggressors and protect against oxidative damage.
It has phytosphingosine, a component said to help prevent irritation that can cause dark circles to be more visible.
To improve skin’s structural support and barrier strength, the formula has included Siegesbeckia Orientalis extract, linoleic acid and whey protein.
Siegesbeckia Orientalis extract is said to help prevent the breakdown of natural collagen.
Linoleic acid helps restore skin’s natural barrier function to maintain an optimal balance of moisturisation.
Whey protein promotes skin’s natural collagen production to strengthen thin, delicate skin underneath the eye area, so dark circles appear less visible.
The Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector is designed with a unique, ergonomic applicator which gives off an instant cooling effect to help refresh fatigued eyes. Meanwhile, the massaging action during application helps break up fluid congestion and improve micro-circulation.
Lightweight and oil-free, the sheer tint blends easily into the skin and is suitable for all skin tones. It can also be applied underneath your concealer or make-up to help prep the skin. Alternatively, layer it on top of make-up.
Used alone or under a daily eye cream, the formula is also said to provide moisturising benefits.
Use twice daily and re-apply as needed throughout the day. Gently squeeze a small amount of product and glide applicator across the under-eye area. Use a finger to gently massage in the excess until fully absorbed.
Priced at RM155, Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector is available at Clinique counters nationwide.
