DEAREST Raja Mariam ( apologies, but I feel that a mere “Dear” is too standard a greeting for someone as kind, humane and warm as you),

I have just finished reading Missing Senja (contributed by Raja Mariam Raja Mohamed Iskandar to Star2’s Heart & Soul section, Dec 30, 2012) and I felt that I had to immediately respond to your most heartfelt and moving article.

To begin with, I am not even an animal lover! But I felt tears prickling my eyes when I read the part when he was taken away by his owners.

I am very sure Senja must have felt very sad leaving you and your wonderful family and I do hope that his owners will keep you posted on his doggie progress.

In these times of crazy politics, senseless religious fanaticism, etc, it is really good for the soul to know that we still have many warm and loving Malaysians among us. As you correctly said, “we (humans and animals alike) are after all God’s creations”.

I would like to end by wishing you and your family a wonderful year ahead and for always, and also to thank you once again from the bottom of my heart for what your mum, you, your sister, brother and nephew have done despite your circumstances and also for restoring my belief in the goodness of mankind.
