HONDA Malaysia has launched the latest fourth generation CR-V sports utility vehicle, which among others, features a more daring styling and aerodynamic body.

The new look comes courtesy of deeper sculpting of body lines and highlighted front grille for this CR-V nameplate, well-known for its sedan-like ride comfort and drivability.

Other improvements over the previous generation also include a classy interior and enhanced convenience features as well as increased fuel efficiency and performance.

Though a bit lower and shorter than the previous generation, the new model’s seat configuration re-engineering has enabled the cabin to be more spacious with better legroom.

Powering the “Premium Smart SUV” is an improved 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine with 153bhp and 190Nm of torque mated to a five-speed automatic transmission for a balance between performance and fuel efficiency.

Helping CR-V drivers reduce their fuel consumption are the ECON button and Eco Assist system which now come as standard features.

When activated, the ECON mode increases fuel efficiency by reducing the vehicle’s power and air-conditioner output while the Eco Assist guides the driver on efficient driving through the illuminated ring colour on the meter cluster. The ring changes to green when the CR-V is driven efficiently and stays white when it’s not.

Enhancing comfort for rear passengers are the new rear air-conditioner vents. The luggage area can be increased from 589 litres to 1,146 litres, making the area roomy enough to fit two mountain bikes side-by-side.

Priced at RM148,800 on-the-road with insurance, the CR-V is available in five colours of twilight blue metallic, taffeta white, alabaster silver metallic, crystal black pearl and polished metal metallic.

Other features include four airbags, vehicle stability assist, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, motion adaptive electric power steering, reverse camera, 17-inch wheels and integrated audio system with USB support and six speakers.

Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive Yoichiro Ueno said the company would be offering a 2.4-litre variant in June to meet the requests from customers who wanted a higher performance variant. This variant is expected to cost around RM190,000.
