MARCH 23 and 24: Interested in a zip-line canopy tour, nature walk, mountain biking, adventure games, bird-watching, nature art, drum circle, discussions on environmental issues, a kampung kenduri or a non-amplified music concert? Then take a trip down to Nomad Adventure’s Earth Camp, an event held in conjunction with their 10th year anniversary as a pioneer of whitewater rafting in Gopeng. Time: 2pm-10pm (March 23). There is an add-on option of whitewater rafting for charity the next day. Tickets range from RM50 to RM120. Part of the ticket sales proceeds will be donated to WWF-Malaysia. Your contribution will also pay for 40 underprivileged children so that they too have the opportunity to enjoy the festival.

MARCH 23: In conjunction with the International Day of Forests at the Kepong Botanical Gardens, FRIM invites the public to join it in tree-planting and other activities. Five hundred trees of heavy hardwood species will be set aside for enrichment planning. Other activities (no charge) include a guided Nature Walk along Razak Trail for four groups of 20 persons each at 9.30am, 10am, 10.30am and 11am; a Botanical Hunt for 10 groups of five participants each (13 to 17 years old); and a Flora Colouring Contest for 25 children (seven to 12). Entrance fee will be waived for all visitors to FRIM on this day.

MARCH 24: Wake up early and join like-minded people in a visit to the Titi Eco Farm Resort, located 9km from Kuala Kelawang in Negri Sembilan. Organised by the Centre for Environment, Technology & Development Malaysia, this visit will include a guided farm tour. Titi Eco Farm Resort has a total area of 13ha, 2.5ha of which are vegetable plots. It houses an organic food processing factory, has various types of fruit trees, three fish ponds, and is home to ostriches, chickens and turkeys. Time: 6.30am. Adults: RM60 (members)/RM65 (non-members). Children 12 years old and below: RM30 (members)/RM35 (non-members). Call for more details.

MARCH: Photography enthusiasts who are keen to show off mastery of their craft should enter this competition where amateurs and professionals compete on equal footing. This year’s competition focuses on portraiture, and even has a special category for mobile phone cameras. Open for image submission until March 31. Further details are on the website.

MARCH 23: Featuring the Caipifruta Vocal Quartet, this is a concert staging of Jason Robert Brown’s intimate musical Songs For A New World: One Night Only. Directed by Christopher Ling, this is a tale of hard choices, betrayal, hopes and fears. The music combines various musical genres, including jazz, pop and classical music. Time: 8.30pm. Tickets: RM23.

MARCH 22 to 23: In conjunction with the Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix, Twin Towers@Live returns to rock your world. Confirmed international acts include US singer-songwriter Demi Lovato, K-pop sensation U-Kiss and Korean girl group 2NE1. Boyband Backstreet Boys will headline the second day. Fans can also catch local artistes Mizz Nina, Caprice, One Nation Emcees and others at the concert. Petronas Motorsports is running a merchandise promotion for FanZone tickets. To get special FanZone tickets (so you can be right in front), you need to purchase RM150’s worth of selected merchandise at the PETRONAS Twin Towers Gift Shop (KLCC) for one ticket, or spend RM300 for two tickets. Vouchers can be redeemed at the 2013 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix showcase at Suria KLCC. The concert is free for all in the general public zones. Time: 5pm.

MARCH 26: At this exhibition, you can look but you can’t buy. Artists, art collectors and gallery owners will showcase the best of their art, but none of the pieces will be on sale. The artwork on display includes an artist’s most “revolting” piece, a collector’s most inspirational purchase, and a gallery owner’s notion of the “the best art ever”. Some of the participants are Gan Chin Lee, Carolyn Lau, U-Wei Hj Saari, Ng Sek San, Nabil Nahar and Sharmin Parameswaran. Exhibition ends April 8.
