Spring stories
IT’S SPRING madness at Sephora as the new season has arrived, and bringing with it, a whole host of new colours and products. Look out for five new brands to colour your beauty wardrobe.
Ciate
British beauty brand Ciaté stands for “Colour, Innovation, Aspiration, Trend and Extraordinary”, specialising in the latest nail trends to keep you groomed and glamorous.
Nicknamed as the “nail innovators of our time”, the niche fashion nail brand was founded by celebrity nail technician Charlotte Knight, created with the understanding that nails are the perfect canvas for self-expression and individuality. Knight started as a salon-based nail technician and was inspired to create a luxurious, sophistica ed and trend-setting range that every woman can afford to enjoy.
The celebrity list for Ciate includes Blake Lively, Rihanna and Kate Moss, and key products revolve around Paint Pots, Nail Innovation Kits, Handcare, Footcare and Treatments.
Paint Pots offer stunning and intensely pigmented colours in 88 head-turning shades in Créme, Shimmer, Glitter and Metallic effects. Caviar Manicure, originally created as an exclusive nail trend for a magazine cover, take nail art to a whole new level. The DIY version contains a Paint Pot and Pot of Beads to create a beaded effect. Velvet Manicure was inspired by the AW12 Fashion Trends from the catwalks and offers luxurious textures and finishes while Sequinned Manicure results in a heavy sequin coat.
Nails Inc
Founded in 1999 by young entrepreneur Thea Green, Nails Inc is Britain’s leading fashion forward nail brand with a best-selling, highly sought after product range.
Her first store opened on South Molton Street near London’s Bond Street, and queues formed down the street, as people were eager to try the now famous 15-minute manicure and the professional, fashion inspired-product range.
Named after famous London destinations such as Notting Hill Gate, Portobello, St James, Piccadilly Circus and The Thames, the products are formulated with the latest professional technologies and created for women who demand uncompromising quality and instant results. Look out for style details like magnetic, 3D glitter, crackle and nail jewellery. Nails Inc can often be found behind the scenes at Fashion Week and just as soon as the trend shades are matched there, the latest shades are available in the market just a few weeks later.
Butter London
Founded by British entrepreneur Sasha Muir in 2005, it is touted to be the first carcinogen-free nail lacquer in the United States and has been a staple at the backstage of London Fashion Week. By transforming catwalk trends to custom nail colour palettes, the brand has developed a passionate following.
The Butter London girl is said to be full of contradictions, naughty and cheeky, yet independent and savvy at the same time and not afraid to take fashion risks. Names associated to the brand include Charlotte Olympia, Agent Provocateur and Alice Temperley.
Lippy Liquid Lipstick was introduced leading to the matching nail/lip trend of 2012.
Percy & Reed
For hair, look to hair personalities Paul Percival and Adam Reed. Built on the names of the two leading stylists in London, the Percy & Reed salon opened to rave reviews in 2007. Since then, the salon and brand, have become a hotbed of celebrity action. And now Percy & Reed has created its own range of easy to use, high performance products. Just like Paul and Adam, its products are genuine, unique, always charming, and quintessentially British – and claimed to really work.
Frontcover
Another name on the colour charts is Frontcover, a brand that takes the latest catwalk trends and turns them into ready-to-wear make-up kits. Photographic magazine style packaging captures the very latest make-up directions and each kit contains everything you need to achieve that look in one box.
Detailed step by step instruction from Frontcover’s resident make-up artist are also included and all photographs are taken using only the products contained in the kit, so confident are they that every customer can achieve these looks herself. High performance formulations are fundamental to the brand. All Frontcover products are highly pigmented and long-lasting. Mirroring the fashion market there are two Frontcover collections a year, spring/summer and autumn/winter, both limited editions so there is always something new and exciting in the range, and the wide range of shades and textures featured are designed to let women experiment.
