The Star Online :: Malaysia@50 National Photo Contest

Our country marks 50 years of nationhood next year and in anticipation of that milestone, we invite Malaysians to take out their cameras to capture the Malaysian way of life. We want to show ourselves at work, at play, at school, at the beach, at the mall, at home, anywhere and everywhere. Whether we catch ourselves laughing, crying, thoughtful, delighted, amazed, tired, bored or sad, these are the pictures that are worth a thousand words. The best photographs will take the top prizes and other selected entries will be compiled into a book and become an exhibition in time for Merdeka 2007.

Contest photographs may range over any of these subjects:
• Our Home • At Work • At Play • Our Beliefs • Our Culture • Our Heritage • Our Cities / Towns / Kampungs

Prize Categories

1	School children & Youth Category (aged 18 years and below as at 1st January 2006) Three (3) Best Entries: Top three (3) entries will each receive RM1,000 cash, prizes in kind and a certificate. Five (5) Consolation Prizes: Each entry will receive RM500 cash, prizes in kind and a certificate.
2	Open Category (aged 18 years and above as at 1st January 2006) Three (3) Best Entries: Top three (3) entries will each receive RM5,000 cash, prizes in kind and a certificate. Three (3) Consolation Prizes: Each entry will receive RM1,000 cash, prizes in kind and a certificate.
3	Open Photo Essay Category (aged 18 years and above as at 1st January 2006) Three (3) Best Entries: Top three (3) entries will each receive RM5,000 cash, prizes in kind and a certificate. Three (3) Consolation Prizes: Each entry will receive RM1,000 cash, prizes in kind and a certificate.
