Christian artistes take centrestage
By K.W. MAK
FOR two nights (Oct 26 & 27), Christian singers sang their hearts out to raise funds for the Shelter Home for Children at the Glad Tidings Church in Section 13, Petaling Jaya.

Gabby Tham: One of the eight Christian artistes who performed at the charity concert. |
The performing artistes were H.T. Long, Gabby Tham, Raymond Looi, Tan Chung Liang, Edmund Smith and Sharan Premala Isaac while the performing bands were Bands A Day At The Zoo and Atone.
Entertaining the crowd with their powerful vocals and performances, the artistes also talked about their experiences with Christianity and Jesus.
Raymond Looi meanwhile serenaded the crowd with his own Mandarin and Cantonese pop style gospel songs.
Long, who moved and grooved like the legendary Elvis Presley, sang several Elvis numbers.
Shelter Home board of directors chairman Vincent Pee said the funds collected would be used for the varied aspects of Shelter Homes work, with its primary focus being protecting and developing its children.
Shelter Home executive director James Nayagam said there was an urgent need to help children who were victims of abuse.

Raymond Looi: Entertained the crowd with his own songs about Jesus Christ. |
We came up with this event then to give them (Christian artistes) the platform to showcase their talents and at the same time they would be able to contribute their talent time energy towards a good cause for society.
The event has had a three-year hiatus since and was only revived this year, but Lim promised that the event would be an annual one henceforth.
There are many good artistes outside of KL that we would like to feature in the future, said Lim.
