Despite heavy downpour, they completed the game on time.

Although it was raining heavily during most part of their search, they made it back to base on time.

The treasure hunt, which involved 43 cars, is third in the series and is one of the major events since the National Youth Wing of JCS was formed in 2005.

JCS National Youth Wing chairman Ramindra Rajaram said this year’s event was especially memorable because it coincided with the country’s 50 years of independence and Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

“The main objective of the treasure hunt themed JCS on the Prowl 3 is to serve as a platform to bring the younger members of the community together. The event has rekindled the interest of the younger members,’’ he added.

Most of the cars were heavily decorated with mini Malaysian flags. They were flagged off at 8am at the Bukit Jalil Golf and Country Resort during a heavy morning shower.

The participants were back at base by noon after their frantic search for clues to the 50 questions.

“Our aim was to get 50 cars for the event but unfortunately we fell short of seven. However, we achieved our aim of getting all our members together for this auspicious Merdeka hunt,’’ he said.

Ramindra said JCS, currently known as Koperasi Jaffnese Bhd (KJB), was established in 1924 and formed by nine men of Jaffnese origin who wanted to save part of their monthly wages to help their families back in Sri Lanka.

The co-operative currently has 5,100 members nationwide.
