BUYING art pieces in a wine shop might seem like a novelty to some but artist Zazi feels it is quite natural to pair wine and art.

“Art really has the power to move people and a good bottle of wine can do the same thing,” said the 28-year-old.

Zazi's work was featured during the Wine & Art Treasure promotion event at Casa Vino Cellar, The Curve in Mutiara Damansara recently.

Joint collaboration: Zazi (left) and Casa Vino managing director Thomas Guldimann with one of Zazi's pieces that were featured at the Bleasedale wine tasting session.
During the wine tasting session at Casa Vino, wine lovers got to sample three types of Bleasedale wines: Langhorne Crossing Dry White, Langhorne Crossing Dry Red and Petrel Reserve Shiraz.

With a glass of wine in hand, guests walked around Casa Vino to view Zazi's art pieces that were displayed in the shop.

“As far as I know, I'm the first to use the term 'designer art'. I design an art piece and have it reproduced,” said Zazi, who was born in London, raised in Malaysia and is currently based in Dubai.

About 10 pieces of each artwork would be copied by reproduction artists and each comes with a certificate of authenticity.

“I do that because each time I come up with something that people like, they would ask me to make another one. Instead of painting the same thing over and over again, I have them copied so I can move on to creating new pieces,” she said.
