RM420,000 for business students
By KENNETH LEE
A TOTAL of RM420,000 in scholarships are available for 125 eligible students to pursue a certificate or a diploma in business administration.
The scholarship scheme, a collaborative effort of Institute of Professional Managers & Administrators (IPMA), UK, and the Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North (Lions), offers 25 full scholarships and 100 half-scholarships.
The certificate and diploma courses will be conducted on a training basis with seminars held at Kolej Unistate, Petaling Jaya, and Kolej Putra, Puchong.
Business administration courses for certificate (four subjects) and diploma (eight subjects) can be completed within six months and a year respectively.
Upon successful completion of course modules, an award and a transcript will be awarded by the IPMA, which is a British professional examining body with ISO 9001:2000 status.
Damansara Utama assemblyman Datuk Lim Choon Kin said the scheme was parallel with the government’s policy to establish a knowledgeable society and priority would be given to the poor.
“This scheme serves as an opportunity to the poor so that they can upgrade themselves and compete with others in the society,” Lim told a press conference recently.
The Lions-IPMA (UK) Scholarship Scheme was initiated to provide professional learning opportunities to young adults aged from 18 to 25 years old and who have attained SPM or ‘O’ Level education and are unable to afford higher education.
Application forms can be downloaded at www.ipmauk.com and has to be completed and forwarded to LionsKLNscholars@gmail.com
