IT was an evening filled with divine champagne and wine, hors d’oeuvres, a snazzy live jazz band, fashion show and lucky draws with attractive prizes up for grabs.

In conjunction with Malaysia’s release of the latest James Bond movie, Quantum Of Solace, Buena Vista Columbia TriStar Films (M) Sdn. Bhd, Corporate Information Travel (CIT) and Bacardi-Martini Malaysia organised a premiere screening of the much anticipated movie and a ‘Journey with Bond’ party.

More than 500 guests comprising business personalities, celebrities and media members attended the screening at GSC Signature at The Gardens.

The event started with the movie screening where guests were treated to a gritty high-octane action adventure featuring Daniel Craig reprising the role of James Bond.

After the screening, it was time to party, held at the GSC Signature lounge that was transformed into a party atmosphere with cocktails and canapés served with a five-piece jazz band entertaining the guests.

And while it wasn’t sure whether the cocktails were shaken or stirred, it was definitely enjoyed by the guests

The night kicked off with energetic dancers strutting their stuff to the classic Bond tune. Next, Buena Vista Columbia TriStar Films Malaysia general manager Anna Ng, Corporate Travel Information (CIT) managing director Thaddeus Foo and Bacardi-Martini Malaysia marketing director Jimmy Goh were invited on stage to pop the Bollinger champagne for a toast to the guests.

Among the programmes of the night were a series of ‘Q&A’s on Bond trivia, where the winners walked away with the newly released Ultimate Bond DVD set.

Next was the Bond Girl-inspired fashion showcase by UK brand Warehouse featuring six models clad in the edgy and stylish collection of the latest season.

Fun games and cool prizes were in store for the guests. For the ladies, their mission was to speak a line from M, the head of M16 and James Bond’s boss, in an upper crust British accent; whereas the guys had to act as the super spy, enact an action fight scene, a fast paced car chase, and end with the line “I’m Bond. James Bond”.

Adhering to the dress code-‘dress to kill’, the guests were dressed to the nines.

Guests in black: (From left) GSC senior manager for cinema exhibition Liew Aing Suan, Kuala Lumpur Pavilion Sdn Bhd leasing and marketing director Joyce Yap, and MasterCard Asia Pacific Pte Ltd vice-president and senior country manager for Malaysia and Brunei Jim Cheah at the screening.

They were rewarded for the effort with prizes such as hotel and spa vouchers, dining vouchers, gym memberships, branded accessories, and many more.

The Best Dressed winners included former Miss Malaysia World 2007 Deborah Priya Henry, celebrity DJ Serena C, actor Zizan Nin, fashion guru Alex Eu. Newlyweds Suria FM CEO Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin and singer-actress Erra Fazira and celebrity couple Lavin Siew and Christian New were the winners for Best Dressed couple.

“I was a little disappointed that there were not many gadgets this time around,” said Engku Emran. Guests partied till midnight and waited with bated breath for the lucky draw segment.

The array of prizes included air tickets to London from Emirates, Thai Airways International and CIT, Ashworth golf bags courtesy of Mastercard, Celcom rebate vouchers, Sony Ericsson C702 and C902 Titanium Bond Cyber Shot phones, and the new 40” Sony Bravia Full HD LCD TV.
