Ma to take on Lim in Segambut
BARISAN Nasional’s Ma Woei Chyi will take on DAP’s Lim Lip Eng in a straight fight for the Segambut parliamentary seat.
The two, both lawyers and similarly dressed in white shirt and black pants, filed their nomination papers at the Dewan Komuniti Bandar Manjalara yesterday.

“I was surprised when I was named as candidate for Segambut as I didn’t expect it. But I’m thankful to the leadership and will continue to serve the people as they are all my brothers and sisters,” said Ma, the Federal Territories Gerakan Youth chief.
While Ma had hundreds of BN supporters rallying behind him, Lim only had a handful of family members and close friends to lend their support.
Unperturbed, Lim, 36, said: “I may be a first-time contestant but I’m no rookie as I’ve been serving the grassroots for a long time. I’m not bothered with what people are saying. I’ll put up a good fight and win or lose, I will carry on helping people.”
One objection was filed against Ma but was rejected by Segambut returning officer Sukiman Surahman on grounds that it was a personal allegation.
Created in 1994, the Segambut constituency is considered a BN stronghold.
Gerakan’s Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong won the seat the last three terms but was dropped this time to make way for new faces.
