I hope to visit the scene (of the disaster) personally to help the needy.
As citizens of the world, it is our responsibility to help and care for each other, Kong said in his speech, urging everyone to lend a helping hand to the victims in Sichuan.
Kong also pointed out the importance of taking precautionary measures during natural disasters. We lack the knowledge on how to react when natural disasters occur, he said, adding that there should be a systemic approach when facing unforeseen disasters.
Chen expressed his gratitude to Malaysians and the Malaysian government for their help.
I'm touched by this donation from NV Multi, which managed to come up with this amount in so short a time.
The assistance and support that we have received symbolises the good relationship between Malaysia and China, said Chen, who gave an assurance that the donation would be delivered to China as soon as possible.
He added that there was a nationwide effort and co-operation between the different sectors in China to rescue the quake victims.
