Food fair to raise funds for centre
EDEN Handicap Service Centre Bhd plans to reaise RM150,000 through its charity food fair at the Caring Society Complex in Penang on June 21.
Its general manager Bertie Tye said the money would fund its free services to special needs people.
“We spend about RM50,000 monthly to provide free 24-hour residential care to the group.
“We are low on funds as we do not have patrons that make regular contributions. That is why we are appealing to the public for assistance,” he said.
Members of the public can donate to the food fair through cheques made payable to the Eden Handicap Service Centre Bhd.
They can donate saleable food items, buy food fair tickets, sponsor food stalls at a minimum RM500 per stall or set up food stalls.
A total of 90 stalls are expected to be set up in the fair. There will also be lucky draws, face painting and handicrafts and souvenirs for sale.
Petronas Gas will be sponsoring 20 gas cylinders for the fair, which will be opened by Penang Health, Welfare and Caring Society Commit-tee chairman Phee Boon Poh.
Tickets are on sale at RM20 per booklet at the organisation’s office at Caring Society Complex, and Eden’s hostels at No. 3 Taylor Road and No 1, Jalan Sir Hussein.
