Malaysians rally to help quake survivors
PENANG Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) has pledged to donate RM500,000 for victims of the earthquake in Sichuan province, China.
China Embassy’s Economic and Commercial councillor Gao Wen Kuan will receive the donation at PCCC on Wednesday.
PCCC president Datuk Khor Teng Tong said individual companies and well-wishers could also hand in their cheques, made payable to Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, to Gao on that day.
“We have received a lot of enquiries from individual companies on their wish to lend a helping hand to the victims but hope to get the funds channelled directly to the victims without passing through other mediums,” said Khor.
He also said PCCC had donated RM20,000 in aid of the Myanmar cyclone victims.
Caring Malaysians who wish to send their contribution to the embassy in Kuala Lumpur can contact PCCC at 04-2624059 for further details.
