Schools benefit from mall’s shopping campaign
THE Subang Parade’s fifth annual “Shop for Your School” campaign closed with a prize presentation ceremony held at the mall recently for participating schools.
The community action campaign, which was held between March 7 and May 4, allowed members of the community to help thousands of primary and secondary students receive more than RM68,000 worth of educational resources simply by doing their everyday shopping at the mall and using their shopping receipts to nominate their favourite school.
Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh who graced the event thanked everyone for their support.
Also present were the staff and management of Subang Parade and Hektar Group, representatives from the campaign’s sponsors, and teachers from the participating schools with their respective students.
A good deed: SJK (C) Chee Wen senior assistant 1 Chew Han Guan receiving the prize from Yeoh The eight-week long campaign came to an exciting end for SJK (C) Chee Wen from Subang Jaya, the winning school that received the most shopping points from shoppers. The school would get RM22,000 worth of products and 800 units of student packs.
The school’s resource centre head teacher Siah Yoke Choo, 48, expressed her gratitude for the generous contribution .
“I also have to thank all the parents for the support they have given to the school. They were the ones who came out and shopped for us,” she said.
Second and third place went to SK Subang Jaya and SMK Subang Utama. Both schools were presented with RM10,000 and RM8,000 worth of products, respectively.
The remaining top 10 winning schools were SMK USJ 12, SMK USJ 4, SMK Seafield, SMK SS 17, SMK Bukit Jelutong, SMK Bandar Puchong Jaya (A) and SK SS 19 Subang Jaya.
Consolation prizes went to SMK USJ 13, SMK USJ 8, SMK TTDI Jaya, SK Seksyen 27 (2), SK Subang Bestari, SK Seksyen 9, SK Seafield, SMK Sultan Salahudin Abd Aziz Shah, SMK Seksyen Sebelas, SK Subang, SK Bukit Kuchai and SK Seafield 3.
This year’s “Shop for Your School Campaign” was sponsored by Digi, PC.com, Oxford Fajar, Great Eastern, and MPH Bookstores.
