Hannah and Ean Yong pay a visit to the Subang Jaya district police HQ

SUBANG Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh and Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah recently paid a visit to the Subang Jaya district police headquarters (IPD) in Taman Equine.

It was the first visit for both and they said it was to highlight to the police the problems within their constituencies.

Yeoh said among the issues she brought up were the need for more police patrol cars to increase patrolling rounds and the influx of foreign workers in Subang Jaya.

“At the moment, the police told us they have about 22 patrol cars for the entire area under the IPD's jurisdiction,” Yeoh said.

“We told them it was insufficient. On the foreign workers issues, the police told us that they would need help from the Immigration department to tackle the issue,” she added.

Yeoh said she had also brought up the rampant acts of loan sharks who put up flyers and cards everywhere.

“As soon as a bunting is taken down, another comes up again. It's hard to monitor the loan sharks or stop their activities, so our advice to people is to not borrow from them,” she said.

She also said that in emergencies, people can call the 24-hour police operational hotline number at 03-8948 1421 to report any crime incidents.

“However, the police are calling on people to refrain from making prank calls.”

Ean Yong had highlighted the issue of daily traffic congestion along Jalan Putra Permai in Seri Kembangan.

“The police had told us that they have officers to stand by every day at this route from 6.30am to 9am. However, I was told that the congestion is still a problem as the officers are sometimes late,” he said.

Both said they would also speak to the respective MPs to voice out the need for more police personnel.

Ean Yong said the meeting was not satisfactory as they did not get to see Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Zainal Rashid Abu Bakar.

AC Zainal Rashid said he had work to attend to which was why he could not meet the assemblymen.

“Both Yeoh and Ean Yong paid us a courtesy call today. It's not so much a dialogue but my officers have taken down notes on what was discussed,” he said.

Zainal Rashid also urged for the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) to speed up the connection of CCTVs to their headquarters as he said the link was still missing.

“We also noticed that the coverage of the cameras is still not enough, as a crime may happen at the spot but the camera's range may not necessarily be able to capture it,” he said.

He added that the police were ready to give their fullest cooperation to all assemblymen concerned.

On the new IPD Subang Jaya in Kinrara, he said the project was on schedule.

“Ground works have been carried out over the last three months and the building should be complete in two years.”
