Orphanage for 80 children to be built
AFTER successfully setting up an old folk’s home, Bao En Shi is moving on to set up an orphanage.
Its fundraising committee chairman Ho You Meng said the orphanage would be built next to the Bao En Shi Senior Citizens Home Anning in Ampang, Ipoh.
Among those who attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the building on Saturday was Perak exco member Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.
Presently, the orphanage has 20 children, aged between three and 13, said Ho.
‘‘When the new building is completed, we can accommodate up to 80 children.
“Construction is expected to start soon and the building will be completed by next year,” he said.
Asked why the organisation decided to have the orphanage, he said many children were being abandoned daily and many others were growing up in broken homes.
”If we do not care for them, their future may be in jeopardy,” he explained.
On the cost, Ho said a total of RM1mil would be needed to build the bungalow and so far, they had collected nearly RM600,000.
In his speech, Dr Mah announ-ced a state allocation of RM30,000.
Those interested to help the orphanage can send crossed cheques made payable to Bao En Shi and send it to Lot 157365 (Old Folk’s Home), off Jalan Ampang Baru 6, Ampang Baru New Village, 31350, Ipoh, Perak.
