Lim reports City Hall’s double-paid job to MACC
KUALA LUMPUR City Hall (DBKL) is facing another allegation of corruption after Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng discovered the local council had double-paid for a job.
Lim lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commision (MACC) after suspecting foul play in the report anonymously dropped off at his office on Thursday.
“There was a collapsed drain in Bukit Tunku in January this year and on the same day, DBKL passed the job to two different contractors,” he said.
He said the details in both documents were exactly alike except for the name of the company and the phase of the project.
The first company was supposedly given phase one while the other was given phase three and paid the same amount of RM92,670.96.
“The job description is similar in both documents including the materials used and the amendments made,” he added.
He also said he had surveyed the area for the said drain but could not find it anywhere along Jalan Gallagher as stated.
However, Lim said he had found a collapsed drain that was in serious need of repair.
The said project began in January and ended in March and the claims and payment were approved by DBKL’s public works department deputy director.
Lim added that he wanted a detailed report from DBKL by Monday.
When contacted, DBKL officials said they were investigating the matter.
