This week, we take a look at the clubbing scene on the fringes of the Klang Valley. We like to call it the outer ring. Here are some of the more active clubs outside the confines of KL.

THEME CLUB Nights - At EUPHORIA on The First Floor

Wednesdays – Milk Shake. A signature brand from Ministry of Sound, Milk Shake is an urban clash of New York, Los Angeles, Kuala Lumpur and Miami, with all the familiar crowd-favourite Hip Hop tracks. Resident DJs: Nesh and Ssense. Admission (with one drink): RM40. FREE admission for Cabin Crew with a valid ID.

Thursdays– Mix Tape presents Girls’ Nite Out. Girls’ Nite Out coincides with Mix Tape, featuring an Open Format type of music with double styles creating something entirely different. Fusing New Wave, Hip Hop, House, Rock, anything and everything that the imagination desires, Mix Tape promises something excitingly fresh yet strangely familiar. Resident DJ: Patrick Oliver from Miami, U.S.A. Free entry for Ladies before 11pm. Admission (with one drink): RM40 (Ladies after 11pm and for Men all night.

Fridays – Move. Harder, faster and darker, Move is a voyage into the dark side of the 4:4 beat, exploring House, Minimal, Prog, Techno, Trance and the new sound of London – Bassline. Admission (with one drink): RM50.

Saturdays – Electro Ballroom. Electro House appeals to a sophisticated Saturday night party crowd that wants the friendlier side of House with anything from present day favourite – Electro – to the resurgent Jackin’House sound. Featured resident DJ: Patrick Oliver. Admission (with one drink): RM50.

Theme ClUBBING Nights - At THE DEQ On The Ground Floor

Wednesdays– Frisky? Frisky? is the pumping set of stylish and sexy Vocal House sound that originally featured in London’s Ministry of Sound. Featured resident DJ: Patrick Oliver. Door charge: RM40, inclusive of one drink.

Thursdays – Save The Robots. This theme sees the room transformed into a “research & development laboratory” where DJs spin and experiment with innovative selections to break new sounds and styles; an enticing prospect for the Malaysian crowd seeking something unusual, to savour new global trends. Featured resident DJ: DJ Nesh and Patrick Oliver. Door charge: RM40, inclusive of one drink.

Fridays – Smoove. Taking on an urban legend in London, Smoove features R&B and is the longest running and greatest showcase of UK and US urban grooves filled with intensity and atmosphere, for the perfect kick-start to the weekend. Introduced by Ministry of Sound in the year 2000, Smoove is an international brand name and the centre stage for the urban movement. It is a display of unsurpassed talent and raw energy with a synthesis of upfront and favourable tracks that are mixed and scratched to perfection. Featured resident DJ: DJ Nesh and Ssense Admission (with one drink): RM50.

Saturdays – Fluid. THE DEQ turns Fluid with Mash Up, creating short, sharp mixes of tracks from R&B, Rock, Indie, Retro, Funk, and in fact, absolutely anything that makes the dance floor bounce! Featured resident DJ: DJ Nesh and Ssense. Door charge: RM50, inclusive of one drink.

Mondays– POP! POP! is a fresh take on the last two decades’ radio Top 40’s charts – also known as Cheese but in Ministry of Sound - EUPHORIA’s sense, free range, eco-friendly, green cheese. Featured resident DJ: Nesh and Patrick Oliver. Door charge: RM20, inclusive of one drink.

Tuesdays– Paradise54. Disco! Marrying the sounds of Studio 54 and Paradise Garage, the 70’s and 80’s style New York Disco classics which set the benchmark for what clubbing is today, returns to see the crowd partying! REPUBLIC BAR

The Republic Bar, where the hip and the chic come to party or simply chill out, now has a swanky new face combining stylish design, lavish decor and just a dash of charming bohemian allure. Always popular with the yuppies and chic urbanites as a place to socialize and party the night away, the new Republic Bar is also introducing some mind-blowing new concoctions created by their talented mixologists. Tomorrow sees the launch of the new look so get set to be enthralled by an exclusive live performance from SureCut Kids, a two-piece DJ act who’s made it big Down Under. The Malaysian Pussycat Dolls will also be performing at the launch. Meanwhile, here’s what’s happening over the next month in July. Mish Mash Wednesday with Vickman all the way. One of the latest additions to the club scene opens seven days a week. Resident and guest DJs keep the motors running with urban hip hop and house. Sunday Beach Party with DJ Kay playing Afro Jamz of R&B, hip hop, dancehall and more. Free entry for ladies until midnight, men until 11.30pm. Admission RM30 after. Ladies free flow drinks all night. Dress code is beach wear. Tuesday with DJ D’Boy playing R&B, hip hop and dancehall. Admission as for Sunday.
